With less than two weeks remaining until the U.S. presidential election, both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are ramping up their last-minute campaigns to attract voters. During this critical time, a survey from The Wall Street Journal has delivered good news for Republican candidate Trump, revealing that he is ahead of his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, in national popularity.
The Wall Street Journal released the survey on Wednesday, showing that Donald Trump has garnered 47% of national support, while Kamala Harris has received 45%. In a previous survey conducted in August, Kamala was two points ahead of Trump.
Conducted from October 19 to 22, the survey included 1,500 voters. In addition to national support, Trump is also leading in head-to-head matchups, with 49% of respondents favoring him compared to 46% for Kamala.
The survey indicates that voters perceive Kamala’s stance to have become more negative since August. As the current Vice President, her approval rating has dropped from 54% to 42%. Conversely, Trump’s approval rating regarding his actions while in office has increased from 48% to 52%.
Previously, a Fox News survey conducted between October 11 and 14 showed Trump leading Kamala by two points. However, in surveys from Reuters/Ipsos, CBS News, and USA Today over the past two weeks, Kamala was seen to hold a slight advantage over Trump.
These surveys provide significant insights into voter sentiment leading up to the presidential election. The results are heavily influenced by key battleground states. In the 2020 election, Joe Biden narrowly defeated Trump in seven such states. Various surveys indicate that this election may see a tightly contested race between Kamala and Trump in those states.
