Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that the newly elected US President Donald Trump is not safe. He has also advised Trump to remain cautious.
After the two-day Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, Putin made these comments at a press conference on Thursday (November 28) local time.
Putin says he is surprised by how the US election campaign has been conducted. He believes that completely uncivil methods have been used against Trump, including repeated attempts to assassinate him.
Referring to many events in US history, Putin says, “In my opinion, he (Trump) is not safe now.”
Praising Trump as an experienced and intelligent politician, the Russian President says he hopes the newly elected President will remain cautious and understand the situation.
On July 13, Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. A bullet fired from almost 150 meters away passed close to his ear.
In September, Ryan Routh was arrested for allegedly attacking Trump at a golf course in Florida.
Recently, federal authorities in the United States arrested a person in Arizona who was posting serial videos on Facebook threatening to kill Trump and his family.
Putin says he was even more surprised that Trump’s political opponents targeted the Republican family and children.
He describes such behavior as ‘rebellious’ and ‘an indication of the collapse of the American political system’. Putin says even criminal groups do not adopt such methods.
The Russian President does not rule out the possibility that the Biden administration is trying to create complications in Trump’s relationship with Russia.
Putin emphasizes that Moscow is ready for dialogue with the United States, including with future administrations.”
