Injured students from the July-August incidents will receive a lifetime waiver on tuition fees

The interim government has decided to grant a lifetime waiver on tuition fees for students injured in the July-August mass uprising involving students and the public. As a result, those who were injured will be able to pursue their studies at all levels without paying any tuition fees.

On Tuesday, October 29, the Ministry of Education’s Secondary and Higher Education Division issued a notice stating that injured students from the July-August 2024 mass uprising involving students and the public will be granted a waiver on tuition fees. The notice outlines the process for applying for the waiver.

According to the notice, the government has decided to waive tuition fees for students injured during the uprising across all educational levels, from secondary to university, including all public and private schools, colleges, madrasas, technical institutes, and universities. Injured students are advised to apply to the head of their respective institutions with medical documentation for this benefit.

The notice further states that the decision to waive tuition fees will be applicable from the current educational level of the injured students up to the university level at all educational institutions in the country. All relevant educational institutions are required to take immediate steps to implement this decision.

The notice also emphasizes that the authorities of educational institutions must promptly verify the applications and arrange for the waiver of tuition fees for the students.
