In response to Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, leaders from Arab and Muslim countries will gather for a summit in Saudi Arabia on Monday.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) announced this in a statement on Sunday.
According to the SPA statement, the increasing violence in Palestinian and Lebanese territories, particularly Israel’s brutal aggression, has forced Arab and Islamic leaders to take urgent action.
The summit will be held as a follow-up to the Arab-Islamic summit in November last year, where the dangerous and unprecedented situation in Gaza and the entire Palestinian region was discussed in Riyadh.
SPA stated, “Unity among Arab and Islamic countries is necessary to address this situation.”
Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Palestine will attend the summit on Monday. The secretaries-general of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will also participate.
They will work towards taking immediate international steps to end the war in Gaza and establish lasting and comprehensive peace.
On Sunday, Saudi state-run media Al-Ikhbariya broadcasted footage of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati arriving in Riyadh.
