A large number of BNP leaders and activists have gathered on the road in front of the party’s central office at Naya Paltan in the capital.
To mark ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ on November 7, the party will hold a colorful procession in the capital this Friday afternoon. Leaders and activists are assembling in front of the central office to participate in this program.
Before the procession begins, a brief rally will be held at Naya Paltan. Following this, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will inaugurate the procession.
The formalities of the brief rally on the temporary stage in front of BNP’s central office started at 2 p.m.
Around 1:45 p.m., it was observed on-site that a large number of BNP leaders and activists, dressed in colorful T-shirts and carrying national and party flags, had gathered in front of the central office. Leaders and activists were also seen stationed at nearby areas, including Kakrail Mor, Bijoynagar, and Fakirapool Mor.
Leaders and activists from Dhaka and surrounding districts have joined the program.
Due to the large gathering, traffic congestion has already developed in the Paltan, Malibagh, Motijheel, and Shahbagh areas.
This is the first large-scale procession organized by BNP since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5. Previously, during the rule of the ousted Awami League government, BNP was required to hold the November 7 procession under various conditions, often with limitations. Police often delayed granting permission for the procession and road usage until the last minute.
In previous years, BNP’s procession would go from Naya Paltan to Shantinagar or Malibagh. However, this time the party has extended the route. The procession will begin at Naya Paltan, passing through Kakrail Mor, Kakrail Mosque, Matsya Bhaban intersection, and in front of the Engineers’ Institution before reaching Shahbagh intersection. From there, it will continue past the Hotel Intercontinental, Bangla Motor, Karwan Bazar, and Farmgate, ending at Manik Mia Avenue. BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will deliver a closing speech virtually at Manik Mia Avenue.
