Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will deliver a speech at the inaugural session of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit at the Conference of the Parties-29 (COP29) on Wednesday, November 13.
The press wing of the Chief Advisor has informed, “On Wednesday, between 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM Bangladesh time, he will deliver a speech at the inaugural session of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit at COP29.”
The COP29 conference began on Monday, November 11, in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Professor Yunus is currently in Baku on a four-day visit to participate in the climate summit.
Additionally, Chief Advisor Professor Yunus had a busy day in Baku on the opening day of COP29.
According to a message received in Dhaka, the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Chief Advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government met with at least 20 top leaders from various countries and heads of international organizations.
At the COP29 venue, Professor Yunus met with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady of Turkey at the World Leaders’ Summit.
On the sidelines of the global climate conference, he also met with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Chief Advisor also greeted Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maldives’ President Mohamed Muizzu, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Nepal’s President Ramchandra Poudel.
Among others, Professor Yunus met with the Prime Minister of Belgium, the President of Ghana, the Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the President of Rwanda, the Prime Minister of Albania, the President of Montenegro, the Prime Minister of Barbados, Vice Presidents of Brazil and Iran, the President of FIFA, and the Director General of IOM.
Additionally, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, met with Professor Yunus on Tuesday morning at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Baku.
The Chief Advisor arrived in Baku on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 5:15 PM local time on Monday.
