Eleven people have died from dengue fever in the last 24 hours, marking this year’s highest single-day death toll. The total death count has now reached 459, while 1,079 new patients have been hospitalized during this period.
The health directorate announced these figures in a bulletin on Sunday (November 24). Among the 11 deceased, nine were residents of Dhaka’s two city corporations – five from North Dhaka and four from South Dhaka. The other two deaths were reported from Khulna division. Since January this year, 86,791 patients have been hospitalized with dengue.
In the past 24 hours, 1,079 new patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide. The admissions include 194 in Dhaka North City, 121 in Dhaka South City, 272 in Dhaka Division (outside city corporations), 133 in Chattogram Division, 97 in Barishal Division, 143 in Khulna Division, 58 in Rajshahi Division, 35 in Mymensingh Division, 17 in Rangpur Division, and 9 in Sylhet Division.
Meanwhile, 1,230 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of discharged patients this year to 82,612.
For comparison, last year saw 321,179 dengue hospitalizations and 1,705 deaths throughout the year.
